Optimize Landing Pages

November 23, 2008 by jp

The economic tide still hasn’t turned yet and people are tightening their belts even more when it comes to spending. Whether you’re managing an online or an offline business, you can attest to the fact that there has been a slow-down in sales of most products and services.

But don’t make the mistake of thinking that you can save money by dicontinuing your pay per click strategies for your online business. At least not until you’ve evaluated your success with PPC. If you stop and evaluate what PPC is doing for your business, you may find that it’s actually a great tool during these times of economic turmoil.

For example, a targeted PPC campaign can increase your conversion rate. And people who are looking for your products will be glad to find them quicker and easier. The important thing to do is to create a budget and then manage your PPC campaign to that budget. Consider what you can put into your PPC strategy and use that to create your campaigns.  If you can afford to put $.05 per click in, then bid with that in mind and don’t blow your budget. But if you can go higher, at say, $.10 per click, then use that as your target.

Landing pages

Closely managing your budget for a PPC campaign will likely make more business sense than abandoning this strategy.  Make sure your targeted audience lands on the page they want. This will help increase your conversion rate. Don’t send every ‘click’ to the home page. Instead, focus on the page that gets the potential customer where they want to go. Use a targeted landing page to give them what they want.

Your landing page can be the thing that puts money in the bank for you. Including your keywords on the landing page is essential to your success. You’re trying to rank for specific keywords so use them on your landing page. Use your top 2-4 keywords on the page, focusing first on your primary keyword, then your secondary keyword. The rest can be added somewhere throughout your content.

As with any content though, don’t over-use keywords. A good balance of keywords to content is your goal. Keeping your customers happy and giving them what they want means using keywords enough to engage them, but not too much to frustrate them by making content keyword heavy.

Optimize your landing page and your PPC strategies to get the most for your money. Stay focused on your goals with PPC and manage your budget. You’ll be rewarded for your efforts.
